Altered brain structure and function have been implicated in various neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD. We tested whether the internal microbiota from individuals with ADHD would alter the brain differently in function and structure. We colonized GF mice with microbiota from individuals with or without ADHD and assessed brain structure and function using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and studied the behavior of the mice using behavioral tests. We showed that the altered microbial composition could be a driver of the brain in changes in structure and function and behavior of the animals.
